I felt the hurt of Christ's death on Good Friday in a way that was more real than ever before. The son of God crucified on a cross where he breathed his last. The pain God must have felt in his son's treatment and sacrifice. Now today (Easter) a celebration of the resurrection. The promise that for Christ's sacrifice, we all can be saved. Knowing that my son is with God's son has brought me a degree of peace as this lenten season draws to a close. HE IS RISEN ! RISEN INDEED! Today's trouble is enough for today."
This was a verse that was very important to Kyle. We had it read at his funeral. I didn't really get it until recently. For me, I interpreted that previously to mean that god will only dish out what we can handle. I have struggled with that verse since Kyle's death. Under my old interpretation it was tough because it seems as though God has given me and my family and insurmountable task. It was Saturday when we attended the Rock and Worship Roadshow in honor of Kyle that it finally came to me. Today as we mourn his death on his 18th birthday, I decided to share this with whoever reads his blog. I realized the meaning of this verse is not "God only gives me what I can handle." The TRUE meaning to me is that ANYTHING is possible through God. This has lifted my burdens whenever think of this verse. I hope it will lift you up too if you are going through anything difficult.
Proverbs 3:5 says "Trust in the LORD with all you heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." What a powerful word that has been for me at this trying time. It can be powerful for you too. I truly believe that without faith, I would be truly lost as I go through this difficult journey. Faith doesn't take all of the pain of life away all of the time. For me to say it does would not be true. Faith can help you through the trying times if you let it in to your heart. There are certainly many different definitions of faith. Right now faith to me is faith in GOD and the promise of eternal life. Faith that Kyle is waiting for us all in heaven and WE WILL see him again. Faith also leads me to me motto through this time. "My life is only a blink compared to eternity with those I love". Please consider the faith that you have and how powerful it is when you sit quitely and really think about it. If you are reading this and don't think that you have any faith, it is not too late. You can discover faith at any point in your life. Through good times or bad.

IN FAITH

BRIAN
Brianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03132473862476240037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038601011134803901.post-67979316297356096732011-08-29T17:06:00.002-05:002011-08-29T17:17:59.508-05:00GODS WORD
In case no reader of this blog was aware, Kyle was killed in a tragic car accident on June 5th. A ministry of Life 102.5, Prayer Works is a place where you can submit a prayer request (anonymously if you so please). The cool things is that people can send you a message (without seeing your email) saying that they're prayed for you, or to offer encouragement. There is also a button that you can click that will put a star under the prayer request, indication that you've prayed for that person.

Prayer Works is great even if you don't have something for which you need a prayer request. I go on often and read the prayer requests. I say a prayer for them and let them know that I have prayed for them. It's an amazing thing, really, to see people who don't even know each other praying together.

To go to Prayer Works, visit Life 102.5
On the top menu, go to Ministry -> Prayer Works.
One of our visits was St. Patrick's Cathedral, a beautiful Catholic cathedral. Now I'm not Catholic, but it was an amazing experience.

First of all, the church is beautiful. There are many places to light candles. It's very quiet and respectful. What I first noted was the great atmosphere of faith in the church. I really felt like God was there, listening to everyone who was praying there. It was such an amazing feeling. The second amazing thing i noticed, was that everyone was praying together. Within my group, there were Catholics, Presbyterians, and Lutherans all sitting together and praying. It reminded me that even with everything that's going on around the world, people still come together. There doesn't have to be fighting, arguing, or violence. Sharing a faith in God brings people together, and it's such an amazing event to witness. I believe that I saw Jesus in every one of those people there in that church.

I highly suggest visiting St. Patrick's Cathedral if you're in New York City.
Also, I apologize for not having written in a long time.
It was during a dress rehearsal the week before the show when I first met Jerry. He flew from a hidden perch somewhere in the theatre and landed on the stage, causing quite a commotion. Jerry, well, he is a bat.

A few nights after that incident, I was lying in bed, reading. Jerry happened to pop into my mind I wondered: Why would God deny such a creature its sight? It seemed slightly cruel for a while, until I thought about it a little more.

Bats are fascinating creatures. God did not give them the sight that He has given most other creatures. He gave them their sonic ability to use in place of that denied sight. Somehow, they live just fine without being able to see.

That brought me to see how much we have in common with the bats. God's plan for us is always in motion, though we don't always see that it is. Just as He gave bats their special abilities, He has given us a "replacement" as well. That would be the ability to have Faith

We must let faith guide us when we cannot see, because God knows what's best.

Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

There was a young boy. He was living on the streets as an orphan. Eventually, he made it to the orphanage, where he at least had a roof over his head and some food in his stomach. It was nearing Christmas when he arrived at the orphanage. He was told of a benefactor who donated to the orphanage for their Christmas dinner. Normally they ate low-cost, bland meals, but on Christmas, they have a real feast, complete with with a real ham. It was even all-you-can-eat! The boy hadn't even heard that before! The benefactor even donates a brilliant tree for the main hall! They decorate it with dazzling white lights and ornaments. At the end of the night, every boy receives an orange, a rare commodity in these times. Oranges were this boy's favorite foods. He's never had one, but he's smelled them. Once, when he was really daring, he scraped his thumb across an orange when the fruit vendor was in town. That was an amazing day, because he had that amazing smell all day. After hearing about all of the festivities, the boy was starry-eyed. His hopes were high, above the clouds. He couldn't wait.

Christmas day came. They had the meal, he saw the tree, and then it came time for the oranges. The boys lined up, and he was at the end, for he did not know exactly what was going on. As he reached the portly man at the front of the main hall.

"I'm sorry," said the man. "You came after we had our order placed. We don't have one for you."

The boy's heart broke. He simply nodded at the man and turned to walk back to his room. After he rounded the corner to his hall, he broke out in a run, tears streaming down his face.

He got to his room, fell face-down in his bed, and wept. Soon, there was a tap on his shoulder. Afraid to show his tear-stained face, he ignored it, but the tapping got more urgent. He turned and saw his six roommates. Each of them had something in their hands. Lying upon an orange-stained napkin in each boy's hands was a slice of an orange. They each took one slice of their treat for the boy, so he would have a full orange. And then, everything was alright.

We should treat God's Word like the boys did with the oranges. If we all share just a little bit of it, we can make the world a better place, by glorifying the LORD.Kylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17380089467977357254noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038601011134803901.post-33020265464991731982010-12-05T22:43:00.000-06:002010-12-05T22:43:45.117-06:00Sally's WordsOnce upon a time there was a girl name Sally. Sally was a junior in high school and she was a Christian. She struggled every day to stay strong and show people she was a Christ follower. She had an amazing group of friend but had very few classes with the ones who actually went to her school. One day in English, her teacher Ms. Nosey, asked the class to write a one paragraph essay on the most important thing in their lives. Sally wrote on how important God was to her. After giving the class ten minutes to write she told everyone to share what they wrote. Sally began to get really nervous, she began to wonder how she was ever going to get up in front of her class and share what she wrote. Time came for her to go up and she started..."The most important thing in my life is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my God"...class went silent. When she came to the end..."He has the power to save everyone's life and help you with any problem you might have" As she went to sit down everyone began to clap louder then they clapped for anyone else. Wow! Amazing, Sally made it through it all and her class didn't think she was weird.

After class she had one of her classmates come up to her. She asked Sally "Can God really help you with any problems?" Sally said yes and went to lunch with her classmate, Debra. Debra told Sally how she had made some bad choices and didnt know what to do. Sally talked to her for the whole lunch period and after school too. By the end of the day, atheist Debra had agreed to go to church with Sally the next day. Sally thought to herself "Wow miracles do happen."

Wow what a testimony! Just think what just a few words can do to change someone's soul.

Based on a true story. Names changed to keep identities safe.
With love,
I was reading one night before I went to bed, and my iPod was playing in the background. A song came on. It was one that I've heard many times before, but I never really listened to the message before. The song was "In the Blink of an Eye, by MercyMe. There were two parts of the song in which I found a really great message. The first went like this:

And though I’m living a good life
Can my life be something great?
What is the a "good" life? We often think of it as one filled with pleasure and luxury. Fast cars, money, a big mansion. In this song, he tells us that there's a difference between a "good life" and a life that is "something great". I think he's saying that a good life is exactly what we think it is: money, pampering, and material possessions. So what does it mean to have a life that is "something great?" The difference is in what you do. If you're living a life that's something great, you are living for God. So I thought "How can I do that?" I'm a very busy person. Between homework, work, sports, and other obligations, I barely even have time to breathe! Isn't everyone like that, at least sometimes? We get so busy trying to do things to "enhance" our lives (a.k.a. making them more comfortable) that we isolate ourselves from God. That leads me to the second passage from the song:

How can I further Your kingdom
When I'm so wrapped up in mine?
When we get so caught up in out kingdom of material possessions such like things, God often, but not always, nor for all people, comes second to that. You may now be asking something like: "How do we further God's kingdom, like the song says?" (and even if you weren't thinking that, I'll tell you anyway :) ). We further His kingdom by spreading His Word, and by following Jesus Christ. Doing things for others is a way of doing that. Volunteering, donating, doing random acts of kindness, they're all ways for God to work through you. But we can also simply make our everyday actions reflect God's kingdom. Just do what's right. That's the easiest way to stay out of a material kingdom, and further the Kingdom of God. Amen.

Peace,
It was a very small, insignificant problem of mine, or at least that’s how it seemed to me. Despite that, she gave me advice. There was one piece of her advice that I remember most clearly. She said: “Pray on it. He doesn’t care how small [your problem] is. If we ask for help, He’ll give it…”
I realized that I don’t really pray on my decisions. I usually take the weight of whatever problem I have on my own shoulders. Very rarely do I pray to the LORD, lifting up my problems. I realized how hypocritical that is. I’m sure you have noticed how often I preach about the LORD always being there, but here I find myself not listening to my own advice. Life would be so much easier, less stressful, if I just lifted my problems to the LORD. He always answers our prayers. The second piece of advice I remember is this: “…Be prepared to not like the answer, though.” As I said, the LORD always hears and answers our prayers. That doesn’t mean his answer is our favorite. I know I’ve written about this many times before, but I just find it one of the most important things we need to know about the ever-mysterious ways of our LORD. We must remember that He has a plan for us, and He has had that plan since before we were born. If you ever find yourself wondering why you are going through a hard time, remember this: it is the LORD’s doing. That is not to say that our God is trying to bring us pain. There’s just times in which one must go through an amount of pain to reach something great. Consider these two examples:

For out first example, let’s think of a sport. We’ll use football, as it is a physically demanding sport. As a former football player, I can testify that practices weren’t always a blast. There were days that were very tough. Why would one put up with that? Well, the answer, in this example, is game day. A player puts themselves through the tough practices to reach the thrill and rush of game day.

For our second example, let’s look to the Bible. Alas, I cannot give a specific verse or chapter, but I know that Jesus said somewhere that, in order to follow him, one must drop everything in order to follow him. That must have been really hard, but, in the words of a Relient K song: “The ends justify the pain it took to get us there.”

Though it may be hard to see this, we must remember that the light of the LORD shines at the end of every dark tunnel. Everything, even the bad things, happens as part of a greater plan. We must trust God by lifting up our problems, letting Him answer them, but remember: we must also be prepared for an answer that we may not like. Just trust that it is for the best, because it most certainly is, for the LORD our God is loving and merciful. Amen.

Keep the Peace,
I'm in Spanish IV in school, and I'm semi-fluent. There's a curse that comes with being fluent. I quite often find myself translating english to spanish in my mind during everyday conversation. I was doing just that the other day while talking to Alyssa on facebook. I mentioned it to her, and she offered to help. She said she would pull up a translator and I would talk in spanish, and she would turn that into english. I happily accepted her offer, so we talked like that for just over half an hour.

Once I spoke all the spanish I could take, we switched back to english. My mind, however, was still in what i called "spanish mode". It was, believe it or not, a tad bit difficult to think and type in english. I began to wonder if that must be the curse that comes with fluency, or if, once one is more fluent than I, they can "turn off" whichever "mode" they're on, kind of like what some artists do. They sometimes have to turn off their "artist's eye", otherwise they will see even the smallest things as beautiful, and marvel at the simplest of objects.

That brought my mind to religion, and I realized I, and many more Christians, have separate "modes" in our lives. We go to church and enter "God mode". For that hour we are true Christians. We focus on God; give him all of our attention. Once we leave that church, though, like an artist leaving her painting, or a linguist changing languages, we go into what one may call "life mode". We all too often separate God from out everyday lives. I e-mailed my Pastor a few weeks ago. I was having trouble with the fact that my relationship with the LORD was melting away. Between work, school, and other obligations, I didn't have time to read my Bible or write a new article (as I'm sure you know). I asked him how I'm really expected to juggle all of that, and add God on top of everything else. His reply was this:

it can be helpful to see and live in a way that school, work, and musical are your witness and your service to God. Not to separate our God life from our everyday life.
Truer words have never been spoken. Amen.
I looked up and saw the stars, and it amazed me. To think that God knows exactly how many stars are in the sky. Then I thought of the verse that says God knows the exact number of hairs on your head. That just amazes me so much, I try to count the hairs on my head and get lost at like 50, and it is not even 1/26 of all my hair! Wow, God knows everything, how many stars are in the sky and how many hairs are on your head. If He knows that, how would He not know how you are feeling, or the answer to a problem you have? Ask Him your questions, He WILL know the answer.
It's really quite amazing. A butterfly starts its life as a crawling slug-like caterpillar. Usually dull-colored and boring, they spend their days simply eating and crawling. Eventually, they go through an amazing, impossible metamorphosis into the beautiful creatures we call butterflies. They go from dull caterpillars to colorful, free butterflies. After being confined to the ground, they are set free into the air, free to travel and go as they please, bringing smiles to little kids.

Butterflies are God's way of showing us that He gives second chances. We all start off as caterpillars. Confined to the dull ways of this Earth. We may do things we are not proud of, things that we regret. Amazingly, God gives us a second chance; He turns us into butterflies. He can open our eyes to His love and glory, showing us the light in the world and the Heavens. Isn't it amazing??

I know some of you reading this now may feel like a caterpillar, but that's OK. We are all there at one point or another, and sometimes more than once. God may not have opened your eyes yet. He has a reason for doing that, just like He has a reason for doing everything else. God always forgives you for what you have done. And He doesn't only give second chances, but third and fourth... seventh and eighth... Just believe with all your heart that Jesus was given to die for your sins. Believe that God is ever-present and ever-loving, and you will recieve his endless mercy.

Parable of the Lost Sheep
1Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people- even eating with them!

3So Jesus told them this story: 4"If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won't he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying. 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.'
7In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven't strayed away!

Parable of the Lost Coin
8"Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Won't she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it? 9And when she finds it, whe will call in her friends and neighbors and say, 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin.' 10In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God's angels when even one sinner repents."
Who are you in these parables? It's plain to see that God is the shepherd and the woman. His people are the sheep, and the coins. But there are two different kinds of sheep. Two different kinds of coins. There's the lost and the found. Which one are you? If you're one of the found, that's great, be happy! The LORD God calls you His. But maybe these Parables are aimed at the lost. For the lonely, wandering sheep. Or the old, dusty coin hiding under the bed. Are you one of the lost? If you are, don't be afraid; don't worry! The LORD is searching for you. Yes, He loves all of those whom he has already found, but He chooses to search for the lost, so that they may be saved! He does not give up, nor does He tire. All day and all night he is searching, holding out His hand. Take it! It's such an amazing feeling, being one of the found. I know this from experience. My Father found me in July at Lifest in Oshkosh, WI. He reached out His hand and I took it and held it firm. I still have not let go, and neither should you. When I first came to the LORD, it was such an amazing feeling, but that can easily fade if you tuck that experience in a box and put it away. But here's some advice: don't put it away. Keep it with you always.
To all those lost sheep: don't be afraid to come to the LORD, your Shepherd when He calls you, for all the heavens and the earth will rejoice when you are found!
Now, to all those already found: keep holding on; keep a strong faith. Don't look down upon those who have not been found. Try giving them a nudge. You know the way to God, so point them in the right direction.

Now... which one are you?

Do you ever just think of God as a king? As someone who reigns on high, out of our reach? Though he does reign over his world, he's not just a king. The LORD is our Father as well. You can always look up to Him. If you lack a father figure, look to the LORD. He always does what's right, and can teach you SO many lessons. He's always there for you, and He always will be. And to struggling fathers: I encourage you to look to the LORD, your Father, as well. Ask Him for guidance. He knows all about being a father. He's raised millions of children. There's so much we can learn from the LORD, we just have to look to Him.

Praise be to God our Father,
As Christians we should be doing this and many of us do pray often but have you ever stopped to think what you pray about? so many pray for their family's safety and success at work and all the other everyday things we worry about. But what about the other problems? The ones we don't tell anyone about? Do we not pray about those because either because we're to ashamed or want to pretend they aren't there? Well God already knows so we don't have that excuse to not pray . why else then? maybe we think he doesn't care about the big problems.but wait didn't we just read that he wants us to pray about everything? So why then don't we do it? I guess the only answers is that we just plain don't do what we should. Think about we say all things are possible in god so why not pray about everything? It certainly can't hurt anything. in fact it can only help.
Peace,
AlyssaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038601011134803901.post-61906152470229665202010-09-06T23:10:00.000-05:002010-09-06T23:10:03.167-05:00My ApologiesDear Readers,

I am very sorry about the lack of new articles. Between school starting, and other obligations, I have not been able to sit down and just write. Don't worry, I haven't given up on you! There will definately be at least one more post up this week, so keep checking up on us!

I also want to raise awareness about National Pro-Life Cupcake Day, coming up on Saturday, Oct. 9th. Not everyone gets a first birthday. Some are aborted, some were taken by God early. This day is for them. You can attend the facebook event, just search it, make sure it's the 2010 event! :)
It was a lot about God answering our prayers. Since that comment is kinda hidden away, I thought I would make an article out of it.

Have you ever prayed to God and thought He never gave an answer? For example, maybe you know lost someone close to you. You may wonder why God put you through that. Maybe you prayed and prayed that that person would stay healthy and with you, but nothing gets better. Would you doubt that He heard your prayers? Know this: God always hears and answers our prayers. As I've said before, God has a plan. He has reasons for everything He does. Alyssa talked about how she lost a family member, and she wondered why God would put her through so much pain. She eventually found out what God's answer was. The loss of her uncle strengthened her family's faith. Even though God always answers our prayers, it doesn't mean we will always like what the answer is. So if you don't think God is listening; if you don't think He gave you the right answer, remember that our God is always listening us, His children. Trust in Him; He always has the right answer.

Trust God,
I can tell you, from experience, that the band members are really fun to hang out with! :) They have two albums: "Voices in the Night" and "Start to Believe". Sorry about the lack of songs. Playlist.com , the site from where I get the music player has only those three songs. But they're good! :)
Smith's song "Come to the Cross.

There's always room in Jesus's heart for us. The song starts off like this:

Mourner, wherever you are
Wherever you are at the cross there is room
Tell your burdened heart
Your burdened heart at the cross there is room
Tell it in the Savior's ear
Cast away your every fear
Only speak and He will hear
There's always room at the cross for us. What I mean by that, is God won't deny you his love, mercy, or grace because you are one of millions. He's always here for us to tell our problems and pains to.

Hallelujah, everyone
Everyone can come to the cross
It doesn't matter what you've done
Everyone can come to the cross
Here, in the chorus, is another example of God's grace. Regardless of what you've done or what happened in the past, God still loves and accepts you.

When should we come to the cross? Well, the question is: Once we come to the cross, must we leave? Luckily, the answer is no! Once you let God live in you, you don't have to forget about it. Embrace his spirit and let Him do his work through you. You can be so much happier.. You may find yourself doing things for others that you never did before. You will also find that you have someone to talk to in the worst of times. Like the song said "Tell your burdened heart... at the cross there is room". When you're burdened, talk to God. Ask him for help or guidance when you need it. God answers our prayers. He may not answer in ways that we would expect, or even in ways that we like, but you always get an answer, and it's always the best.

Peace be with you,
